I finally figured out the style of photography that I’m very fascinated with – minimalism. It is photography to its barest and simple form. What matters most are the simple shapes, lines, and colors. Gone are the extraneous elements and distractions that clog the frame. The overall mood is that of peace and fulfillment. The immediate effect is visual yet the more lasting feeling is etched in one’s soul. The emotions will provide the unseen elements in the picture.

What is ironic though is that I portray simplicity in my art yet my life is the complete opposite. It is so complicated with enormous responsibilities and challenges. I long to be the birds that fly freely in the blue skies. I desire to climb the stairs to the top of the tank and shout to the wind that I will overcome no matter what hardships are hurled at me. Minimalism indeed – so easy to capture yet so hard to live.

Fun, creative, and humorous are words that describe me. I spend a lot of time with my family which consists of my husband, 4 children and extended relatives. I enjoy making and maintaining true and lasting friendships. Photography, writing, and music help express myself in artistic ways. I love all kinds of sports like basketball, volleyball, and tennis. I am a special education teacher in an urban school district. I feel it's my mission to teach children with disabilities and to be their advocate.
